Briggs and Forrester Construction Enquirer Awards 2017 Winners

The Briggs & Forrester Group won 'Best Specialist Contractor to work for (over £25m)' at last night’s Construction Enquirer Awards 2017 in Birmingham.

Over 10,000 votes were cast, and the companies with the most votes in each category were presented with an award. This award recognises Briggs & Forrester as one of the industry’s best companies to work for and the best firms to do business with. A big thank you to everyone who voted!

Nick Cox, Regional Operations Director and Susan Metcalf, Commercial Manager recently took part in ‘Jail and Bail Exeter 2017’, to raise money for the Children’s Hospice South West.   

To make bail, they were required to raise £3000, and through generous donations from colleagues and friends they raised an impressive £3,555! The event overall raised a massive £13,400 for the charity.

Congratulations to everyone at Briggs and Forrester, particularly to our Health & Safety Team who recently collected the 2017 RoSPA Occupational Health & Safety Awards at the Awards Ceremony in Birmingham. The Group achieved a Gold Medal for the sixth consecutive year and Engineering Services achieved their 4th President’s Award, following 14 consecutive Gold Awards.

Tony Sambridge, Business Development Director, Combined Energy Solutions has recently completed a 5 kilometre swim for Macmillan Cancer Support.

His training began in March and he completed the swim on the 1st July 2017.

28th July 2017

Today is Derek Hine's last day after 19 years with the company. Derek began his career with Briggs & Forrester in November 1998, working with Mike Stanton to establish the IT infrastructure for the group. 

Derek said, “For me this is the end of an era, and I am about to ride off into the sunset on my bike, I am sure you will all join me in wishing Dom Costantino and his team every success in continuing my legacy, and I wish one and all every success in the future.”

As Project Angel nears completion and Northamptonshire County Council staff take occupation, Combined Energy Solutions (CES) technicians have started on site.

They are working closely with the client’s facilities team, and are reporting back to the Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services team with any issues that require attention or investigation.

The team at our Briggs & Forrester Warrington office have been ‘actively’ fundraising in support of a very good friend, Andrew Mason, who was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer. 

Andrew has spent the last 28 years fundraising for various charities, so they were eager to help Andrew with his own very worthy cause. They completed a 258 mile run in 24 hours, which is the distance from the B&F Daresby office to the B&F Northampton Head office…and back!!

Northants Cricket Club sponsorship

The Briggs and Forrester Group is proud to continue its sponsorship of Northants County Cricket Club this 2017 season. We’ve been associated with the club for over 20 years. We wish all the players and support staff every good wish for the new season. Let’s hope the Steelbacks can triumph in the T20 Blast competition again this year!

Greener Path Award logo

The Briggs and Forrester Group has been awarded the Greener Path Award for ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ from ACM Environmental PLC for the second year running.

ACM Environmental PLC is a recycling-led waste management company who helps their clients both to reduce the cost of their waste and harness the profit in it. Their Greener Path Awards celebrate the work businesses are doing to reduce the impact they have on the environment.  Businesses who demonstrate exemplary effort and achievement in minimising waste, boosting recycling and increasing landfill diversion are recognised.

Briggs and Forrester Apprenticeship Programme

Curtis Castledine is an Assistant Mechanical Design Engineer and began his career three years ago with Briggs and Forrester via the company’s apprenticeship programme.

“I’d always enjoyed and been interested in maths, physics and design technology. However apprenticeships were not something that was highlighted to me at school; students were encouraged to go to university.  The opportunity to be able to learn a trade whilst earning a living really appealed to me.
